Carter Crone, Brett Emig Have Big Nights as Panthers Down LeBlond

Brett Emig had a big night on the offensive side of the ball and Carter Crone had a big night on the defensive side of the ball, and Pattonsburg beat LeBlond 66-26 in coach Scott Cavin’s first game at the helm. It was 52-6 at the half before the reserves took over. LeBlond is coached by Eric Fairchild, who coached the girls basketball team at NEN during the 2010-2011 season.

On the offensive side, Brett Emig had 5 catches for 181 yards, while on the defensive side, Carter Crone had 12 tackles on defense.

Steven Willhite completed 14 of his 22 pass attempts for 304 yards and seven touchdowns. He rushed for another 59 yards. Brody Langfitt, one of his backups, showed some promise as a running quarterback and rushed 8 times for 50 yards. Pattonsburg seems to be committing to the run a lot more this year, as they ran the ball 26 times and passed 25 times. Patrick Cowley had 4 rushes for 48 yards, Carter Crone 3 carries for 13 yards, Kaden De Jong 2 carries for 11 yards, and Login Goll 1 carry for 5 yards.

Brett Emig had 5 catches for 181 yards. Patrick Cowley had 6 catches for 94 yards, Carter Crone 2 catches for 21 yards, and Dakota Eaton 1 catch for 8 yards.

Carter Crone had 12 tackles for the Panthers. Dakota Eaton had 4, Patrick Cowley 3, Brett Emig and Brandon Hamilton 2 each, and Jacob Zerbe, Ryelin Hulett, Collin Briggs, Kason Mathes, Kason Butler, and Clark Adler all had 1.

The Panthers won the game by winning the turnover battle, forcing five LeBlond turnovers to two for the Panthers. Brett Emig, Patrick Cowley, and Dakota Eaton all had picks. Brett Emig had two fumble recoveries.
