He graduated from Lenox High School and following graduation the family moved to Sheridan, Missouri where he engaged in farming and construction until 1963. LeRoy lived in Independence, Missouri for almost 45 years and worked at Prier Brass Manufacturing Company in Kansas City and later retired from Bennett Packaging of Kansas City, Inc. LeRoy has made Mount Ayr, Iowa his home for the last four years.
LeRoy passed away September 3, 2019 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harlan Shelman of Portland Oregon.
Survivors include his children Kevin (Jayla) Shelman of Mount Ayr, Iowa and Diana Stephens of Sheridan, Missouri; four grandchildren Noah, Seth, Jesse Shelman and T.J. Stephens.
Mr. Shelman has been cremated and burial will be at a later date in the Isadora Cemetery in Worth County, Missouri.
