Wild Night in Eagleville Results in Shamrock Wins

The varsity Shamrocks survived a wild night in Eagleville, with both squads coming away with victories over Grundy County.

Before the girls game, Coach Aaron Long promised that Grundy would be one of the most athletic teams his squad would face all year. They were as good as advertised, but North Harrison showed they were up to the challenge as they came away with the 60-59 HDC victory.

North Harrison won each of their first three quarters and led 52-47 after three, but then had to hold off Grundy County in the fourth for the win. Payton Craig had 26 points for the Shamrocks. Brandy Rivet had 17, Addie Slaughter and Mason Cracraft had 4 each, Emma Craig 3, and Carly Rinehart and Olivia Babinski had 2 each. Brandy Rivet had three 3-pointers and Payton Craig had one. The Shamrocks were 12 for 22 from the line. Free throws doomed Grundy County, as they were only 5 for 14 from the line.

The boys game was just as good. Coach Mike Schmidli said that they had a lot of returners back. The two teams were a mirror image of each other, but the Shamrocks were able to get the 76-71 victory to go 2-0 for the young season.
