Northeast Nodaway’s boys torched DeKalb in the first round of the Platte Valley Invitational Tuesday. They outscored the Tigers in all four quarters to get the 65-30 win.
Spencer Weir led the scoring for Northeast with 16. Eli Scroggie had 15, Dylan Mildfeldt 15, Cameron Staples 8, Mitchell Sherry 4, Brayden Welch 2, and Ethan Adwell 2. Northeast outscored DeKalb 17-4 in the first quarter. The teams played evenly in the second, with Northeast holding a 30-15 halftime lead. Northeast scored 24 in the third quarter and triggered the running clock early in the fourth.
The Bluejays went to 2-0 on the year. Weir and Mildfeldt each had two 3-pointers. Northeast was 4 for 6 from the line.
The girls held off a third quarter rally from St. Joseph Christian in the first round and won 42-33 Monday. Gerry Runde had 12.
