Northeast Nodaway’s boys, who had been manhandled by Stanberry over the last few years, wiped out a 13 point halftime deficit and came back to beat the Bulldogs. Coach Vance Proffitt said his squad didn’t do anything different. “We just started hitting some shots,” he said. Cameron Staples knocked down three straight 3-pointers for Northeast to bring them right back in it and they continued to chip away until the 30 second mark, when Chet Spire hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 45.
Stanberry ran down the clock until six seconds, when Dylan Mildfeldt took a charge on Brad Hailey. Hailey protested the call, said something the referee didn’t care to hear, and drew a technical foul. Eli Scroggie hit both technical throws and then two more after Stanberry fouled him for the win.
For NEN, Dylan Mildfeldt had 19 points. Eli Scroggie had 12, Cameron Staples 9, Spencer Weir 6, and Chet Spire had 3. Eli Scroggie and Cameron Staples had 5 boards, while Dylan Mildfeldt had 6 assists.
NEN started off the week with a 79-61 win over Nodaway-Holt. Weir had 20 and Scroggie 18.
