Jadon Dobbins did all she could to stem the Tiger avalanche, but Worth County’s JV pulled away for the 41-21 victory in Hopkins Thursday. The Tigers had a balanced attack in the effort; no player scored more than seven points, and nine different players scored in the effort.
While Dobbins scored all seven of her team’s points in the first quarter, five different Tigers scored. Jill Hardy had a free throw off a steal and a layup off a Jenna Smith steal. Hardy had three assists in the period, hitting EmiLee Brown in the high post, Anna Spainhower on the baseline, and Haley Hunt inside. Anna Spainhower hit Cristina Clementoni in the high post for a heavily guarded shot as well. Worth County led 11-7 after one.
It looked like North Nodaway’s one-man wrecking ball in Jadon Dobbins would take over in the second as she hit two from the left wing for three and scored another off a drive after getting a pass from Brittney Leach to put her team up 15-11. But then Jenna Smith countered with a three-pointer off a pass from Jill Hardy, EmiLee Brown hit from the high post off a pass from Megan Cassavaugh after a steal from Jill Hardy, and Jill Hardy got another steal and a layup to put Worth County up 18-15 at halftime.
It was more of the same in the third as four different Tigers scored nine points as they began to gain separation in the third. Haley Hunt got a three point play off a pass from Braidy Hunt after Merrideth Spiers and Haley Hunt got blocks on the other end and Spiers threw a quick outlet to Hunt. Megan Cassavaugh swiped one for a layup, then Spiers grabbed a third chance putback to make it 25-15 as Worth County started to take control. Dobbins scored off a drive to make it 25-17, but Jenna Smith scored off a steal to make it 27-17 after three.
Worth County shut down North Nodaway defensively in the fourth and went on a 12-0 run to put them away. Jill Hardy got a steal and threw it to Megan Cassavaugh, Merrideth Spiers got a steal, threw it to Jenna Smith, who threw it to Haley Hunt for a finish, Spiers got loose down the floor in transition and got a pass from Anna Spainhower, Merrideth Spiers kept a possession alive and got it to Spainhower on the top of the key, Megan Cassavaugh hit Jenna Smith in transition, and Braidy Hunt scooped up a carom and went coast to coast to cap the run. Seven different Tigers scored in the period.
Nine different Tigers scored. Jenna Smith and Haley Hunt led the scoring with 7. EmiLee Brown had 6, Jill Hardy 5, Anna Spainhower, Megan Cassavaugh, and Merrideth Spiers all had 4, and Cristina Clementoni and Braidy Hunt had 2.
Merrideth Spiers and Haley Hunt had one block each for the Tigers.

Jill Hardy had 5 steals for the Tigers. Braidy Hunt had 4, Jenna Smith and Megan Cassavaugh 3 each, and Anna Spainhower and Haley Hunt 1 each.
Jadon Dobbins led North Nodaway in scoring with 19 points. Emma Hart had 2.
