Gilman City’s basketball teams won several postseason awards following their successful seasons.
For the girls, Khloey Sperry was named District 14 Player of the Year for the Hawks. She was a constant threat to get 15+ points and 15 boards each night. She is only a sophomore, and if she stays healthy, she has nowhere to go but up.
In her first year coaching the Hawks, Kaitlyn Eoff was named Coach of the Year or District 14. She made all the right moves over the course of the season during the Hawks’ 22-6 season that included an HDC title, an HDC Tournament title, a District 14 title, and a 17 game winning streak at one point.
Two other Hawks also got all-district honors. Avery Gregg was a steady hand at the point, one of the better on the ball defenders in the area, and a constant threat to light it up. Shelby Gibson was one of the most improved players on the squad; she battled foul trouble early in the season, but overcame it to stuff the stat line and get close to 10 points every night.
The Hawks had two boys make the all-district squad. Camden Griffith was named to the squad. He showed rapid improvement during the year and was a threat to score 30 points on any given night, showing a soft touch around the basket. Landon Preston was also named to the squad. Both scored their 1,000th point this year.
