Dear Editor,
Please allow me to introduce myself my name is Philip J. Hanks. I am 50 years old and will be running for Mayor of Grant City on April 8, 2025. I have lived my whole 50 years of life here in Grant City, Missouri and am proud to call Grant City and Worth County my home.
I first want to say that the current mayor has done a great job and I applaud her for everything she has accomplished and maintained. HOWEVER, times require change and growth for which I ENSURE to our people, to improve our city from its internal core outwards and aim to raise the spirits, wellness, and pride for every individual, guaranteed with I as your Mayor!
When I was younger, I remember having a fair/carnival around center of town on the square and there just seemed to be a sense of and spirit within our citizen's hearts. The joyful satisfaction of the entertainment and closeness that this brought through to our people had been astounding. The local businesses were also impacted positively with customers of vast varieties! We had our crimes but we didn't seem to hear about that much vandalism or clean-up except on Halloween when the kids just had to have a little, let's say, unhealthy fun. I would enjoy the possibility of this carnival/fair coming back into our lives and maybe come up with a healthier outlet for the chaos versus vandalism in our city.
Once elected, I will be the main supporter of everyone and shall build on what current Mayor Debbie Roach has done. Starting with number 1: bring businesses back into the area. I would also like to try to bring the fair/carnival back as a yearly event. I would also like to improve our city services by adding to the services we already provide or have provided in the past for which have made positive impact.
Firstly, to have a Laundromat/Game Center. This would be a business that not only will provide a foundation of funds for itself to continue to operate but also provide the funding to acquire maintenance to be also established and provided to be clean and safe as a facility. This business would not only bring health, life, and cleanliness into our society but also provide entertainment as well as a necessity that is a must to empower our people. To bring in business that is secure and vast, we need to continue to maintain and improve our systematics such as: water, sewer, and roads for which will impact the entirety of the county and several surrounding communities as well for which Grant City is a place for not only our people but massive others outside of our city limits that come to our town for our services and attractions.
I would be in the office when available to answer concerns and questions. I will let the public know when I can, what we as a city are doing to improve things for them. This will be through multiple notification systems. I will do this by local newspapers, Facebook posts into groups, and any other means of communication. Also, you may follow me on Facebook for regular updates as to the progression and growth of our community. I would like to see our community, as well as our county, grow with job opportunities for our younger generations as well as our current adults hopefully as well having some opportunities among us that will create a sense of belonging and help to elevate our overall mind, body, and spirits, together!
I will be open to hearing any ideas that people would like to see the city to do or try to do and invite you to share ideas with me as I am elected. Thank you for your consideration and may success be together, OURS!
VOTE AT THE POLLS ON APRIL 8, 2025!
Sincerely,
Philip J Hanks
Grant City
