Earl was a true farmer at heart. He took great pride in the farming lifestyle and enjoyed the ever constant tasks that needed to be done in order to be successful. Earl and Shirleen had a great time square dancing together in Bedford, Clarinda and Maryville areas. Earl also enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing when time allowed. He also enjoyed traveling with Shirleen in later years.

Earl enjoyed being around people, whether it was attending the Saturday Sales in Bedford, attending local tractor pulls or playing cards with his friends each weekday, Earl looked forward to the conversation and camaraderie. Family was the biggest and most important part of Earl's life. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Hopkins, Missouri.
