The Grant City Council will be having its next cleanup day April 12th.
Kevin Fisher was wondering about painting the street signs and posts so that they all match. There was also discussion at the Grant City Council meeting Wednesday about replacing worn-out street signs.
The city has not heard anything on the park grant.
Bid packets for building demolition are out and being picked up. They are due back March 31st at 10 am. The city is working with the DNR on the cost of removing any asbestos and demo, while the city is looking into a zero-interest loan with MOKAN that they can pay back at a rate that works with their budget. The goal is to have the Dogman building down by the fourth of July.
The city is also looking into a water tower grant from the USDA along with engineering assistance.
There are no grants out there for gas updates or equipment through USDA. Last year, there was $100,000 for the whole state and they are expecting no more than that or even less this year.
Ryan Fletchall reported that he would be draining and cleaning the pool around mid to late April. The city is looking into getting a new pool filter.
Tyson Troutwine reported cutting and picking up brush following two recent wind storms. Cold mix went up to $120 per ton from $105 per ton. The city voted to authorize up to $6,500 for cold mix. The city talked to Judd Summers about using his bulldozer to clean the brush along the water main; he said they could use it for $100 per hour plus fuel.
Clerk Farrah Richey reported that the auditor was there twice and the report is expected soon.
The council voted to allow Community Services to use the work room as an office two days per week to meet with clients.
There was a complaint about a couple of properties on High Street.
The city is in the process of filing annual reports on the USDA water bonds.
The city disconnected one gas customer due to nonpayment.
The council approved a building permit for Archie and Pam McCord.
The city received a call regarding the out of town meter fee. It was discussed and will continue to be charged.
