Worth County’s teams finished eighth Monday at a loaded meet in Bethany in which several bigger schools competed. Chillicothe, Hamilton, Maryville, Trenton, and South Harrison all competed.
For the girls, Chillicothe had 110, Hamilton 79, Maryville 78, Princeton 61, Trenton 45.5, Albany 38, North Harrison 34.5, Worth County 32.5, Mercer 22, King City 21, South Harrison 20.5, Gilman City 18, Gallatin 14, Maysville 10, and Polo 1.
For the boys, Hamilton had 99, Chillicothe 84, Maryville 74, Trenton 71, Princeton 53.5, King City 47, South Harrison 36, Worth County 30, Maysville 23, Gallatin 21, Braymer 13, North Harrison 13, Polo 13, Albany 4, Mercer 2, and Gilman City 1.50.
Brooklyn Smith was fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:11.15. Laura Hansen got a personal best with a time of 1:31.98. Hadley Rush took almost six seconds off her time and got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 3:07.77. Audrey Runde got a season best in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 19.49 and finished fourth. Brianna Riley got a personal best with a time of 20.36.
The 4x100 team of Audrey Runde, Brianna Riley, Gracie Thurman, and Megan Tracy was second with a personal best time of 58.25. After a rough meet at Albany, the 4x200 team of Megan Tracy, Brianna Riley, Gracie Thurman, and Brooklyn Smith was fourth with a personal best time of 2:04.96. The 4x400 team of Gracie Thurman, Hartley Fitzgerald, Kennedy Murphy, and Paige Chaney didn’t place, but got a personal best time of 5:28.78.
The high jumpers continued to move up the ranks, even against tough competition. Paige Chaney was fourth with a personal best 1.30 meters. Brynn Chapman also got a personal best, getting a height of 1.25.
Megan Tracy finally broke the 2 meter barrier in the Pole Vault and finished tied for fourth with a height of 2.13 meters. Gracie Thurman tried her hand at the Long Jump and placed, getting a jump of 3.74. Megan Tracy got a season best jump in the Triple Jump, getting a distance of 7.98.
The throwers continued to move up the ranks in the Shot Put even though they didn’t place. Braelyn Fletchall got a personal best throw of 7.65, an improvement of .61 of a meter, or almost 2 feet. Bree Ray got a personal best throw of 7.37, an improvement of .15.
For the boys, Jordan Dannar got a personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:04.49, an improvement of almost two seconds. Brock Healy continued his steady improvement in the 100 Hurdles, getting fourth place with a time of 18.62, a personal best.
The 4x100 team of Maverick Cox, Jordan Dannar, Mason Hiatt, and Bentley Frisch was seventh with a personal best time of 55.38. The 4x200 team of Maverick Cox, Mason Hiatt, Bentley Frisch, and Jordan Dannar was eighth with a time of 1:55.56.
Bentley Frisch was pushed by Bowe Ussery (Princeton) in the Pole Vault and responded with a win and a personal best height of 3.20 meters. Brock Healy was fifth with a height of 2.59, also a personal best.
Jordan Dannar got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.07 meters. Brock Healy was second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 9.93 meters.
For the throwers, Wesley Brown got a personal best in the Discus with a throw of 8.55 meters. That was an improvement over his throw of 7.97 last year. Tucker Fletchall got a throw of 6.77, also a personal best. Brock Healy, in his second try throwing the Discus, got a personal best with a throw of 27.96 and is coming close to placing. Wesley Brown also got a personal best with a throw of 22.33.
North Harrison
For the first time in recent memory, North Harrison’s girls finished ahead of a Worth County team in a track meet. They got 34.5 team points to 32.5 for Worth County.
Raegan Hogan knocked .26 of a second off her best time last year in the 100 and moved up the ranks, finishing fifth with a time of 14.51. Gracie Young also got a personal best and finished with a time of 15.11. Lily Lane knocked 3.09 seconds off her time in the 400 and got a time of 1:35.33. Hali Smith got a personal best in the 100 Hurdles and finished third with a time of 19.48.
Hali Smith got a personal best in the Pole Vault and was tied for fourth with a height of 2.13 meters.
The Shamrocks placed two in the Long Jump. Hali Smith was third with a jump of 3.96 meters. Gracie Young was fourth with a jump of 3.95. Ava Rinehart got a personal best in the Triple Jump with a jump of 7.65 meters.
Ava Rinehart tried her hand at the Shot Put and was fifth with a throw of 9.06 meters. Kathryn Parkhurst got a personal best with a throw of 6.10. The duo also got personal bests in the Discus. Ava Rinehart was fourth with a personal best throw of 18.94 meters. Kathryn Parkhurst got a personal best throw of 13.45 meters, an improvement of .87 meters over her previous best at King City.
For the boys, Lance Jacobs took over four seconds off his time in the 800 and broke the three minute barrier, getting a time of 2:59.82. Matt Richardson took over eight seconds off his time in the 1600, getting a time of 6:49.70. Dalton Guy was fifth in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 19.03. Lance Jacobs got a personal best with a time of 22.77.
The 4x200 relay team of Jensen Davis, Ryker Fortner, Kellan Craig, and Dalton Guy was seventh and took 8½ seconds off their time, getting a time of 1:54.21.
Jensen Davis matched a personal best and finished third in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.86 meters. Dalton Guy was eighth in the Triple Jump on his first try, getting a jump of 9.23 meters.
Axle Allen got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 6.72 meters. Meric Hansel improved his distance in the Discus by over 3.6 meters, getting a personal best throw of 21.82 meters.
