Shamrock Boys Finish With 60 Points at Trenton; Gerken Third in Hurdles for Girls

After a long layoff from track due to rainouts, North Harrison was finally able to get on the track Thursday at Trenton. For the girls, Erica Gerken picked up where she left off in the 100 Hurdles. For the boys, they scored 60 team points in a loaded meet.

For the girls, Brookfield had 123, Maysville 86, Princeton 81, Trenton 69.5, Carrolton 63, Gallatin 51, Newtown-Harris 42.5, East Harrison 14, North Harrison 7, and Tri-County 3.

For the boys, Newtown-Harris ran away with the meet with 140 points. Brookfield had 83, Trenton 81, Princeton 62, North Harrison 60, Gallatin 57, Carrollton 23, Maysville 23, and Tri-County 6.

For the girls, Gerken, going up against athletes from Princeton, Brookfield, Trenton, Gallatin, and Carrollton, finished third with a time of 19 seconds. The other points for the girls came from the 4x100. The team of Gerken, Peyton Kerr, Jaxcynn Hansel, and Kira Robertson was sixth with a time of 1:01.03. Jaxcynn Hansel improved her throw in the Discus by almost three meters and got a personal best of 22.03 meters. 

For the boys, Lane Graham was third in the 100 with a time of 12.97, close to a personal best. Landon Johnson got a personal best in the 400 with a time of 1:09.36. That was an improvement of almost six seconds over his time last year. Tate Richardson was sixth in the 1600 with a time of 6:18.61. 

The 4x100 team of Griffin Dougherty, Lucian Sweeney, Noah Guy, and Evan Schreiber was sixth with a time of 54.66. The 4x200 team of Kolton Graham, Evan Schreiber, Landon Johnson, and Lane Graham was third with a personal best time of 1:47.71. That was an improvement of almost two seconds from the Early Bird. The 4x400 team of Wyatt Maize, Tate Richardson, Kolton Graham, and Lane Graham was fourth with a time of 4:06.86, improving their time by over 11 seconds. 

Tate Richardson was second in the High Jump with a height of 1.57 meters, matching a personal best from last year. Landon Johnson was third with a personal best height of 1.52. Wyatt Maize improved his distance in the Long Jump by .62 of a meter and won it with a jump of 6.58. Last year, Lane Graham got to 5.14 in the Long Jump in his second meet of the year, but couldn’t get over the hump, although he kept coming close. He matched that at the Early Bird this year. But he finally got over the hump and finished fourth with a personal best jump of 5.45 meters. Wyatt Maize won the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.67 meters.

Griffin Dougherty got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 9.64 meters. Dillon Hartschen was sixth in the Discus with a throw of 28.59 meters. Kolton Graham was fifth in the Javelin with a throw of 32.62 meters, a personal best. Evan Schreiber was sixth with a throw of 30.86.
