Contests Develop for Assessor, Public Administrator, Coroner

Contests have developed for the Worth County Assessor’s race, the Public Administrator, and the Coroner. 

For Assessor, Tresha Petty has filed for the position, as has incumbent Miles Spainhower. For Public Administrator, Valarie Whiteker, Robin Davidson, and Shelby (Thomas) Troutwine have filed. For Coroner, Sharon Paxson, Ashley Rush, and Elaina Welch have filed. All have filed as Republicans.

Incumbents Tyler Paxson (West Commissioner), Regan Nonneman (East Commissioner), and Scott Sherer (Sheriff) have filed for reelection and are unopposed.

Filing as Republican Committee people were Russell Burns, Robert Hull, Barbara Dannar, Donald Null, Lois Null, Bruce Ferguson, Debbie Ferguson, and Bill Engel.

For State Representative District 1, incumbent Jeff Farnan has filed for reelection. He has gotten a primary challenger in Michelle Horner of King City. State Representative Mazzie Christensen (District 2) is unopposed.

State Senator Rusty Black’s seat is not up for reelection this year.

For 6th District Congressman, Incumbent Republican Sam Graves has filed for reelection. He has received primary challenges from Freddie Griffin, Brandon Kleinmeyer, and Weldon Woodward. Democrats Rich Gold and Pam May have filed, as has Libertarian Andy Maidment. Since someone dropped out at the last minute, by law, filing has reopened and will remain open until Friday.

The Governor’s race has turned into a three way contest between Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe, and State Senator Bill Eigel. The US Senate race is turning into a contest between Democrat Lucas Kunce and incumbent Josh Hawley.
