Ali Brown Sets School Record in Javelin; Tiger Boys Second, Girls Fifth at Rock Port

Ali Brown breaking a school record in the Javelin throw with a throw of 120 feet was the highlight of the day for the Tiger track teams Tuesday, April 11th at Rock Port.

For the girls, East Atchison had 105, Rock Port 81, Mound City 73, Platte Valley 70, Worth County 60, St. Joseph Christian 55, Albany 51, South Holt 28, Nodaway Valley 27, Stanberry 21, NEN 9, North Nodaway 8, and Union Star 5.

For the boys, Albany had 115, Worth County 94, Mound City 86, Platte Valley 67, Rock Port 59, Nodaway Valley 39, Stanberry 39, Union Star 20, North Nodaway 8, and St. Joseph Christian 8.

Hailey Adwell was third in the 100 with a time of 13.76. Adwell was third in the 200 with a time of 28.56. Brylea Paxson was fifth in the 1600 with a time of 6:45.26. 

Riley Ridge was fifth in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 19.38. 

The 4x100 Relay Team was third with a personal best time of 54.54. That was an improvement of 1.2 seconds. The 4x200 team was fifth with a time of 1:59.65. 

Riley Ridge broke the five foot barrier in the High Jump, beat her previous personal best by 6 inches, and finished second with a jump of 5’1”.  Eva Engel was second in the Pole Vault with a vault of 10 feet.

Kara Staton was fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 31’4¾”. She was third in the Discus with a throw of 100’10¾”. Ali Brown was sixth with a throw of 92’9½”. Ali Brown was second in the Discus with a throw of 120 feet, getting a personal best and a school record. Rylee Ruckman got a personal best with a throw of 79 feet.

For the boys, Ethan Frese got a personal best and finished fifth in the 100 with a time of 12.64. Tyler New got a personal best in the preliminaries with a time of 25.01 in the 200 and then finished fourth with a time of 25.22. Franklynn Taute was sixth with a time of 26.66. Frese was fifth in the 400 with a time of 57.64. John Galanakis got a personal best in the 110 Hurdles by almost a second and got second with a time of 17.93. Brayden Combs got a personal best with a time of 21.20. Lucas Frisch was third in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 48.60. Brayden Combs got a personal best with a time of 50.02. 

The 4x100 Relay Team was second with a time of 48.51. The 4x200 team got a personal best with a time of 1:41.38 and finished third. They have improved their time by six seconds over the course of the year. The 4x400 got another personal best with a time of 4:02.25 and finished third. They improved on their previous best time by 8 seconds.

John Galanakis was third in the High Jump with a height of 5’7”. Landon Moser was fourth in the Long Jump with a jump of 17’11¼”. Tyler New was fifth with a personal best 17’10¼”. Andrew Griffin was fifth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 36 feet. Landon Moser was sixth with a jump of 35’11¾”. 

Jase Latham won the Shot Put with a throw of 45’¼”. Latham was fourth in the Discus with a throw of 103’9¼. The Tigers were 1-2 in the Javelin. John Galanakis got a personal best by 20 feet and won with a throw of 133’10¼”. Tyler New was second with a throw of 133’2½”.  

Northeast Nodaway

Baylie Busby got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 14.71.  Mylee Wilmes was fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:09.18. That time was a personal best. Baylie Busby was third in the High Jump with a jump of 4’9”. That was a fraction of an inch off her state qualifying time from last year and one inch away from Michelle Schulte’s school record mark of 4’10”, set in 2010.  Sasha Deardorff got a personal best in the High Jump with a jump of 11’6¼”. Dalanie Auffert got a personal best in the Javelin with a throw of 66’3¼, ten feet better than her previous mark.

For the boys, Kyler Scadden got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 13.85. 

North Nodaway

Andrea Jenkins got a personal best in the 1600 with a time of 6:50. That was 38 seconds better than her previous best time. Amy Richards got a personal best time of 7:56. That was 19 seconds better than her previous best time. Casey Wray was fourth in the 3200 with a time of 17:28.78. That was a personal best, beating her previous best time by 54 seconds.

The 4x800 Relay Team was fourth with a time of 13:09.30. That was 18 seconds better than their previous best time. Lea Hendricks got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 22’10¾”. Hendricks also got a personal best in the Discus with a throw of 65’6½”. 

For the boys, Owen Martin continued his steady improvement in the 400. He has improved his time by five seconds over the course of the season and finished third with a time of 57.49. Jeremiah Vinzant got a personal best in the 1600 with a time of 6:45.09, beating his previous best time by 15 seconds. Draven Rowland got a personal best in the 3200, beating his previous best time by a minute and getting a time of 15:34.89.

The 4x400 team was sixth with a time of 4:42.39. Owen Martin was sixth in the High Jump with a personal best height of 5’3½”. Jordan DeLeon matched a personal best with a height of 5’1”.
