Tiger Teams Sweep King City Relays

Fears that the Worth County boys track program would be decimated by baseball have not materialized. They won their first meet Thursday over a tough field and the girls won as well at King City. The Tigers have a promising junior high contingent coming up, which means that more track successes are on the way.

For the girls, Worth County won with 103 points. Platte Valley had 91, DeKalb 79, Gilman City 60, North Andrew 57, Albany 53, Pattonsburg 52, King City 38, Stewartsville/Osborn 32, Braymer 25, Stanberry 22, Nodaway Valley 18, North Nodaway 12, Winston 9, Union Star 4, and North Harrison 4.

For the boys, Worth County had 103, Braymer 92, Platte Valley 83, Albany 78, Stanberry 65, Winston 64, North Andrew 46, King City 38, North Harrison 33, Gilman City 32, North Nodaway 21, Union Star 18, Stewartsville/Osborn 17, Nodaway Valley 13, and DeKalb 7.

For the girls, Worth County put Hailey Adwell in the 100 this time, and she won with a time of 14.40. Emma Spencer was sixth with a time of 15.18. Adwell was also second in the 200 with a time of 28.88. Rayleigh Smith was seventh with a time of 31.54. Unlike Worth County, where only the top six place, the top eight placed at King City. Brylea Paxson was sixth in the 1600 with a time of 6:31.99, close to a personal best. 

Riley Ridge tried her hand at the 100 Hurdles and was fourth with a time of 20.24. 

The 4x100 team was third and knocked seven hundredths of a second off their time and got 56.10. The 4x200 team won with a time of 1:58.85, a personal best and over five seconds better than their showing at the Early Bird.  

Riley Ridge was fourth in the High Jump with a jump of 4’5¼”. Eva Engel won the Pole Vault with a height of 10 feet, the second time she has reached that mark this year for the Tigers. Emma Spencer improved her mark by over a foot and finished fourth in the Long Jump with a jump of 13’10¼”. Rayleigh Smith also showed a lot of improvement in the Long Jump, improving by over a foot and finishing seventh with a jump of 12’6½”. Riley Ridge was seventh in the Triple Jump with a jump of 29’3¼”. Katelyn Fletchall got a personal best with a jump of 25’4”. 

Kara Staton was third in the Shot Put with a throw of 31’3¾”. Kara won the Discus with a throw of 96’11½”. Ali Brown improved on her last Discus throw by four feet and was third with a throw of 89 feet. Ali Brown was second in the Javelin with a throw of 108’11½”. 

For the boys, Levi Cassavaugh was fifth in the 100 with a time of 12.42. Levi was fourth in the 200 with a time of 24.63. Tyler New was seventh with a time of 26.12. Levi improved by three quarters of a second in the 400 and won with a time of 53.84. 

John Galanakis was second in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 19.47. Lucas Frisch improved on his time from the Early Bird by a second in the 300 Hurdles and finished second with a time of 48.17. 

The 4x100 team was third with a time of 49.30. The 4x200 team took 3½ seconds off their time and finished third with a time of 1:43.56. The 4x400 team knocked a second off their time and finished fourth with a time of 4:10.28. 

Andrew Griffin was eighth in the High Jump with a height of 5’1”. Brayden Combs was fourth in the Pole Vault with a height of 9’¼”. Landon Moser was third in the Long Jump with a jump of 17’7½”. Andrew Griffin got a personal best in the Triple Jump with a fourth place finish of 37’2¾”. 

Jase Latham won the Shot Put with a throw of 46’3½”. That was three feet better than his throw at the Early Bird. Lucas Frisch was seventh with a throw of 33’2½”. Jase was second in the Discus with a throw of 107’1¾”. Tyler New ran away with the Javelin competition, winning with a throw of 134’3¼”. 

North Nodaway

Addalea Barcus was sixth and got a personal best of 1:12.64 in the 400. Casey Wray was fifth in the 3200 with a time of 18:22.28. The Mustangs put together a 4x800 team and finished fifth with a time of 13:27.17.

For the boys, Owen Martin knocked almost two seconds off his time in the 400 and got a personal best of 59.35, good for sixth place. The 4x800 team was fifth with a time of 11:34.65. Owen Martin matched a personal best in the High Jump and got seventh with a height of 5’1”. The Mustangs placed two in the Long Jump. Mason Casner was fifth with a jump of 17’5½”. Damon Carroll was sixth with a jump of 17’2¾”. Owen Martin was sixth in the Triple Jump with a personal best jump of 34’8¼. 

North Harrison

Kira Robertson got another personal best in the 200, getting a 6th place finish of 31.15. Erika Gerken was eighth in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 21.43. 

For the boys, the 4x200 team took almost two seconds off their time and finished fourth with a time of 1:47.33. Tyson Gibson was third in the High Jump with a height of 5’3”. Kolton Graham showed improvement in the Long Jump and got a mark of 16’¼”. Tyson Gibson won the Triple Jump with a jump of 43’5¼”, close to his personal best. Owan Roberson was fifth in the Discus with a throw of 95’4½”. Dillon Hartschen was sixth with a throw of 91’7”, a season best. Owan Roberson was fourth in the Javelin with a throw of 100’6¼”.
