The Mount Ayr City Council voted at a meeting to close the pool, the Mount-Ayr Record News reported Wednesday. The state had come in and alleged that the city did not adequately monitor chlorine levels in the pool. Under Iowa regulations, chlorine levels cannot be too high or too low. The city had taken out the sidewalk area around the pool in an effort to look for leaks; state regulations require that the city rebuild it up to current state standards.
