Ridge Harger Gets First Win of Year for JH Mustangs

On Thursday, North Nodaway’s junior high track teams competed in the East Atchison Quad. For the girls, Rock Port had 187, East Atchison 120, Nodaway Valley 48, South Holt 22, and North Nodaway 19. For the boys, Nodaway Valley had 154½, Rock Port 116, East Atchison 50½, South Holt 48, and North Nodaway 30.

In the girls 100, Mya Hansen got a season best with a time of 15.65. Taccoa Moyer got a personal best with a time of 17.25, improving her time by over a second since the start of the year. Laney Turner got a personal best in the 800 with a time of 3:21.37, knocking seven seconds off her time. 

A trio of Mustangs all got personal bests in the 100 Hurdles. Trynzlee Ebrecht got a time of 21.53, Eliza Clements got a time of 22 seconds, and Pyper Smith got a time of 23.67.

The 4x400 team took six seconds off their time and got a personal best of 5:23.41.

Mya Hansen came close to a personal best in the High Jump and finished third with a height of 4’2”. 

A trio of Mustangs got personal bests in the Long Jump. Laney Turner improved her distance by two feet and finished fourth with a jump of 11’9¾”. Lily Blaine got a personal best of 10’2”, and Pyper Smith got a personal best of 8’9”.

Eliza Clements was sixth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 21’2¼”. 

The highlight of the day came in the Shot Put. Jenayeah Howard, only a sixth grader, improved her throw by 5 feet and finished second with a throw of 25’10¾”.

For the boys, Ridge Harger carried the Mustangs on his shoulders in the speed events. He got a personal best in the 100 and finished second with a time of 12.84. He got third and came close to a personal best with a time of 27.72 in the 200. And in the 400, he finished third with a time of 1:04.25. 

Robbie Forney got a personal best in the 100 with a time of 15.79. Ty Moyer took almost two seconds off his time in the 400 and finished with a time of 1:12.36. 

Two Mustangs got personal bests in the 100 Hurdles. Robbie Forney got a personal best of 23.69, an improvement of almost two seconds, while Draven Rader took three seconds off his time and finished with 28.35. 

Ridge Harger got the first event victory all year for either Mustang squad as he won the Long Jump with a jump of 15’2”. Two other Mustangs got personal bests in the event. Ty Moyer got a personal best jump of 11’2¼”, while Connor Pearson got a personal best jump of 8’10¾”. 

Matthew Sturgis got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 19’1¼”.
