Alex Harmening and Wyatt Rush recorded season bests in the Pole Vault, but did not qualify for Sectionals against a tough field. Alex Harmening got a vault of 11 feet, his best vault of the year, which was good for 5th; the top four advanced to the Sectionals. Four different vaulters finished ahead of him at 11'6". Wyatt Rush got a personal best in the event as he followed with a vault of 10 feet. His previous mark was 9 feet.
Eli Mullock narrowly missed qualifying in the Long Jump as he got a jump of 17'8 3/4", which put him in 5th place. That was 1 inch off the score needed to qualify and 1'7 3/4" off the jump of Eric Duncan of Rock Port. Grant Parman, competing with a strained hip flexor, was 10th with a jump of 15'7". Grant Parman also competed in the Triple Jump where he had a jump of 30'10 1/2".
Both Brian Hall and Dallas Greenland qualified in the Discus. Hall won with a throw of 124'6". That was off some of his earlier throws this year but still good enough to win the event, 9 inches ahead of Winston Norris. Dallas Greenland was 3rd with a throw of 119'4".
Neither Hall nor Dylan Kinsella were able to qualify in the Shot Put. Hall had one of his best throws of the year, but that was not enough against a tough field which had five other throwers who threw it for over 40 feet. He had a throw of 40'10 1/2", 8'6" off the throw of Winston Norris of Rock Port. Dylan Kinsella was 8th with a throw of 36'8".
The 4x800 Relay Team of Mitch Andrews, Jordan Harding, Levi Kalal, and Bryce Ross qualified with a 2nd place finish. They had one of their best times of they year and were 16 seconds off the pace set by Stanberry. Mitch Andrews staked the Tigers out to an early lead, but they could not match the torrid pace set by Stanberry. Bryce Ross held off a late charge by Mound City to give Worth County its second place finish.
Eli Mullock won the 100 with a time of 11.34. That was .54 of a second ahead of Thauan Andrade of CFX. Andrew Mullock did not qualify, but he turned in one of his best times of the year with a time of 12.87, good enough for 10th place.
Lane Craven did not qualify in the 1600 as he turned in a time of 6:12.67. That was 1:16.87 off the pace of Colton Blay of West Nodaway.
The 4x100 Relay Team of Dallas Greenland, Alex Harmening, Andrew Mullock, and Mitch Andrews did not qualify, finishing 6th, but they turned in one of their best times of the year with a time of 47.56. That was 1.79 seconds off the pace set by Albany.
Ryan Smith was a surprise qualifier in the 400. He knocked almost three seconds off his personal best time and finished 4th with a time of 55.18. That was 2.73 seconds off the pace set by Devin Gage of Stanberry. Ryan is only a sophomore, so he figures to be one of the favorites in this event should he keep improving.
Mitch Andrews qualified in the 800 as he got a time of 2:13.94, good enough for 3rd place. That was 5.72 seconds off the pace set by Brandon Saxton of Nodaway-Holt. Jordan Harding did not qualify as he finished 7th with a time of 2:19.78.
Eli Mullock got his second first place finish as he won the 200 with a time of 23.46. That was .79 of a second ahead of Thauan Andrade of CFX.
Levi Kalal did not qualify in the 3200 as he struggled and finished 9th with a time of 14:06.11. That was 3:20.97 minutes behind the pace set by Colton Blay of West Nodaway.
The 4x400 team of Mitch Andrews, Jordan Harding, Grant Parman, and Bryce Ross qualified with a time of 3:55.10. That was 13.90 seconds off the pace set by Stanberry.
