Positive Balance at WCCC

There was a positive balance for the WCCC reported at the monthly meeting last Wednesday. Utilities will go down, as will Natural Gas costs. The new heating and cooling system is much quieter and residents can control it. As of last Wednesday, the north side of the west wing was being worked on. Fletchall said that they would continue to work on marketing the facility to attract new residents; there were around 30 residents, up from lows the month before.

Administrator Karen Fletchall reported that the facility hosted a Mother's Day Banquet as well as an Easter Egg Hunt at which the Easter Bunny showed up. The Employee Relations Committee is selling Red Wheel products for Relay for Life.

Disposal of the old units was discussed, including possibly donating for home energy programs.

Beth Meek has begun new duties as Activity Director, replacing Linda Pollan, who resigned.

Fletchall predicted that computerization of medical records was coming.

The boiler people will be ready when the WCCC is ready; the old boiler will be taken out of the basement and replaced.

There were more discussions on the hot water heater and what to do with that. The board is trying to design a system that would minimize any downtime should one of the units go bad. The board gave Fletchall the authority to replace the hot water system should an emergency arise. Board members said that like the boiler, a new hot water system would pay for itself. The board will also check into grant and loan opportunities with the USDA. The USDA has funded the generator purchase in the past. Board President Scott Houk said that it would help that the facility has already begun making improvements on their own.
