Over 500,000 Gallons of Water Unaccounted for at Parnell

The City of Parnell has had over 500,000 gallons of water unaccounted for. The city billed customers for 2,240,560 gallons of water while the City of Grant City, which supplies Parnell's water, billed for 2,792,000 gallons of water. DNR rules require that cities should have no more than 10% of water unaccounted for. The city will install meters at the Fire Station and the new City Hall to see where the water is going. There have been no leaks since the first of the year and there are no more problems with the water tower running over any more.

The city voted to approve the contract with Grant City for the purpose of purchasing water. The price and other terms and conditions are unchanged from last time.

The city sewer system was inspected and the city will receive word on what passed and what did not. Work was lined up to spray at the lagoon and the lift station. Work was also lined up to slope off dirt near the legs on the water tower. The city is also working on putting on a lock in the hatch. The city is seeking to find a way to equip the tower with safety rigging or anti-fall devices as required by DNR inspectors.
