County Commission Minutes for May 16th, 2011

Commissioner Findley called the meeting to order at 9:08 am.

1. Commissioner Dennis Gabbert made a motion to approve the minutes and agenda. Rob Ruckman seconded. Motion carried.

2. Commissioner Rob Ruckman made a motion to approve the bills. Commissioner Dennis Gabbert seconded. Motion carried.

3. Commissioner Rob Ruckman reported the gas prices from MFA as gas $3.799 and diesel $3.999

4. Treasurer Linda Brown presented the weekly balance sheet, and bills.

5. Pat Kobbe, EMD came to finalize the earthquake drill set for Thursday May 19th.

6. Bill Calhoon, a representative from the Lions Club came to ask about resetting the horseshoe pits that were removed for Kevin’s Gazebo. The Commissioners agreed that it was ok to place them in the southwest corner of the courtyard. Commissioner Gabbert made a motion to supply the concrete for the project. Commissioner Ruckman seconded. Motion carried.

7. Commissioner Gabbert made a motion to have C & H electric proceed with wiring projects discussed earlier. Ruckman seconded. Motion carried. Clerk Roberta Owens will contact them.

8. Charity Austin, Economic Developer reported that she is working on the COPS Grant.

9. Road and Bridge Foreman Jim Fletchall report:

· Findley complained about the gravel that Denver received. Fletchall said it wasn’t good, but it probably met the State requirements.

· Galen Kemery was supposed to get a load of 2” gravel; instead they delivered 1 1/4 “Commissioners agreed to give him a load of 2”.

· Discussed the field dirt that is running off the side of the banks on CR 146. The crew will dig out the dirt and remove it to another area. That should fix the problem for several years.

· Fletchall has one bridge left to do paperwork on for a FEMA project.

· Discussed getting parts off of the used dozer. Commissioners advised Fletchall to tell the scrap person we want as many parts as possible.

10. Commissioner Gabbert made a motion to adjourn for lunch at 12:30. Commissioner Ruckman seconded. Motion carried.

11. Commissioner Findley brought the afternoon session to order at 1:30.

12. The commissioners met with David Baird to discuss the flag pole.

13. Clerk Roberta Owens presented the commissioners with various items.

14. Commissioner Ruckman made a motion at 4:56 pm to adjourn. Commissioner Gabbert seconded. Motion carried.
