Obituary -- Veva Parkhurst 1941-2022

Veva Jane Parkhurst, 80, Blythedale, MO passed into eternal rest Monday, January 24, 2022 at her home with family by her side.

She was born on May 13, 1941 at the home of her parents, Tommie and Tessie (Fowler) Starmer near Martinsville, MO. She was the sixth of nine children.

Jane started her education at a one room rural school called Muddy Valley, which Jane attended for four years before continuing her education at Martinsville. She graduated in May of 1959. She later attended Art Instruction Inc. in Minneapolis, MN after the birth of her children. She was a self-taught artist that worked in pencil drawings before going into oils.

Jane worked in the lithograph department at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City.

Jane was united in marriage to Rollan Glee Parkhurst on December 27, 1959 at the Martinsville Christian Church. She had met Rollan, the love of her life, when he came home on leave from the army during her senior year of school. They were introduced by his brother Paul, who was the basketball coach at Martinsville. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage. To their union, four boys were born: Michael, Monty, and twins, Matthew and Mark.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollan; parents, Tommie and Tessie Starmer; father and mother-in-law, Orville and Mae Parkhurst and siblings, Mabel Lilavea and William Earl.

Jane is survived by her sons, Michael (Michelle), Monty, Matthew (Renee) and Mark (Amy); grandchildren, Amanda, Zachary, Cody, Chelsea, Dylan, Drew, Clay, Alex, Anthony, and Delaney; 14 great grandchildren; and siblings, Wilma, Shirley, Oleta, Lavonne, Royce (Sue) and Marie (Bill). She also had oodles of nieces and nephews and lots of friends.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 29 at the Eagleville Christian Church, Eagleville, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Eagleville, MO. Inurnment at a later date will be held in Highland Cemetery, Eagleville, MO. The family received friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
