Worth County Homecoming Set for September 16th

The Worth County R-III High School Student Council invites the Worth County Community to participate in “Homecoming 2016: Remember when…”   With this theme in mind, the focus of the parade and the week’s events will be on remembering past homecomings through the decades.  Each class will select a period of time (decade) in which to focus their parade float decorations.

“We hope that the whole community will participate in Homecoming 2016,” said Alec Summers, Student Council President. “We had several businesses participate in the parade and the window and business decorating contest last year and hope that more will join this year.”  If your business or organization would like to participate in the parade or in the business window decorating contest, contact the High School Office at 564-2218.

The Homecoming event will also be a time to remember the alumni of Worth County.  “Both of our honorary guests, the homecoming queens of 1966, Debbie Pritchard McCloskey, and 1991, Jodie Bradley Wurster, have responded that they will be coming,” said Mason Hawk, Student Council Vice-President.

Events for the week of September 12 will include spirit days (dress up days) with coronation on Thursday evening (September 15) at the football stadium followed by the 3rd Annual Powder Puff Football game.  On Friday (September 16), the annual homecoming parade around the square (2:00 pm) will be followed by an alumni reception with this year’s Royal Court at the Senior Center. Homecoming week will culminate with the football game (6:30 pm) against the King City Wildkats on Friday evening.  The homecoming dance for students in grades 7-12 will start after the football game ends.
