Obituary: Ray V. Landrum 1923-2011

Ray V. Landrum, 87 passed away April 25, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Albany, Missouri.

Ray was born April 29, 1923 to Clyde and Carrie (Pickenpaugh) Landrum in Eldon, Missouri. He graduated from the Eldon High School in 1941.

On November 4, 1942 Ray and Helen (Jones) Landrum were married and continued a joyous relationship for 60 years until her death in 2002.

Ray joined the U.S. Army in 1943 serving in World War II for 3 years during the “European Theatre” as a Medical Technician being discharged in 1946.

Ray worked as manager of U.S. Plywood in Kansas City, MO, Wichita, KS and New Orleans, LA, a furniture salesman for F.C. Grace in Denver, MO, and truck driver for Crouse Cartage Company until retirement in 1987.

Ray was baptized into the R.L.D.S. church in 1959 and ordained into the office of Priest in 1964 and later office of elder in 1974 in Allendale, MO.. He served many years at various congregations around the area. Ray was very active in several different organizations including Coordinator of Gentry and Worth County tourism, AARP, campaigns for politicians running for office, preservations of the Denver, MO museum, member of the V.F.W. Post in Grant City.

Survivors are son: Gary (Barbara) Landrum, 2 granddaughters: Lori (Danny) Jennings, Alicia (Chad) Steeve; 1 grandson: Scott (Kim) Landrum; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 3 sisters: Betty Hamilton, Wilma Krueger and Mary Lou (Albert) Pendergraft; 1 brother: Howard Landrum; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri. Pastor Brent Baxley officiated. Interment was in the Miller Cemetery near Denver, MO. Visitation one hour prior to service. Memorials may be made to V.F.W. Post #3123 of Grant City.
