Severe Weather Fails to Materialize Tuesday Night
The weather forecasters for Tuesday had forecast a 90% chance of strong storms last Tuesday night (March 22nd), but they failed to materialize. Folks in Ravenwood were drenched by a sudden rainstorm that afternoon while Grant City got nickel sized hail at one point. Ravenwood got two to three tenths of an inch of rain. But the severe weather that had been forecast did not come. Sheridan was spared as there were rounds of thunder and lighting as well as a few sprinkles along with high winds, but all the precipitation went to the north, east, and south of town. A tornado watch had been issued early in the afternoon and the weather was deemed to be severe enough that emergency management officials were called into a webinar at noon that day. The high winds continued into Wednesday and knocked down the Nielsen Building on the west side of the Grant City Square.
