Mary Eighmy was born at the farm home east of Redding, Iowa on November 30, 1915 to Willard Morton and Eva Lura (Coverdell) Oliver. She died March 25, 2011 in St. Joseph, Missouri at the age of 95.
Mary graduated from the Redding High School and Costers Beauty Academy in St. Joseph. In the spring of 1937 Mary was united in marriage to Wayne Eighmy. To this union one son was born: Oliver Dennis Eighmy. Wayne preceded her in death in 2001.
Mary started her beauty shop in 1937 and worked 71 years, closing her shop in 2008. She was a member of the United Methodist Church , Chapter BL, P.E.O. and Eastern Star, all of Grant City, Missouri.
Also preceding Mary in death were her parents; 3 brothers: Clifford, Lloyd and George Oliver and 1 sister: Nell Norris.
She is survived by her son Oliver Dennis Eighmy of Grant City; 1 brother: Willard Oliver Jr. of Irwin, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary will be missed by family and friends.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri. Rev. Michael Eighmy will officiate. Interment will be in the Grant City Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to service.
