“Reap What You Sow” workshops for acreage owners

Owning an acreage can be a dream come true, but knowing how to use that land resource effectively can be difficult. In order to help acreage owners achieve success with their small farms, a series of workshops have been planned by University of Missouri Extension specialists in northwest Missouri. Starting April 11, “Reap What You Sow” will be held on six consecutive Mondays from 5:30-8:00 p.m. in Maryville at the Nodaway County Administration Center at 403 North Market Street (northeast of the courthouse).

A wide variety of topics will be covered, including developing a plan for your acreage, resources for land owners, pond development and management, wildlife, forages, fencing, raising poultry, vegetable production, horses, livestock, beekeeping, and marketing your products.

Speakers will include Extension specialists, government agency personnel, and local producers.

The fee is $60 per person or $90 per couple sharing materials. A light meal will be provided at each session. Register with Randa Doty at the Nodaway County Extension Center at 660-582-8101 or dotyr@missouri.edu by April 4, 2011.

If you need special accomodations because of a disability, or if you need materials in an alternative format, please inform the Nodaway County Extension Center as soon as possible.
