Worth County PTO Bylaws

Purpose:
The purpose of the PTO is to enhance and support the educational experience and development of students at Worth County Elementary; to develop a closer connection between school and home by encouraging involvement; and to improve the environment at Worth County Elementary through volunteer and financial support.

Membership:
1. Members are encouraged to attend monthly meetings of the PTO and are encouraged to give input into the decision making process.
2. PTO membership is free and encouraged.

Policies and Procedures:
1. The PTO shall be non-commercial, non-sectarian, and politically non-partisan.
2. In the event of dissolution of this organization, its assets shall be distributed for one or more of the schools projects designated by the administration of the Worth County Elementary.
3. The name of the organization or the names of any members in their official capacities shall not be used in any connection with commercial concern or with any partisan interest or for any purpose not appropriately related to promotion of the objects of the organization.
4. The PTO does not and will not seek to dictate the administrative activities or policies of the school. The administrator of the elementary school retains final approval or veto power of any function if said function will interfere with procedures, policy, and/or the best interest of Worth County Elementary School.
5. All disbursements are to be made only by majority vote of the PTO members. The PTO is subject to a minimum annual audit. July 1st - June 30th will be the PTO's fiscal year.
6. Parliamentary Procedure or Robert's Rules of Order are to be followed at all meetings.

Meetings:
Regular monthly meetings shall be held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise ordered by the officers.

Officers
1. Officers will consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
2. New officers take office July 1st.
3. The election of officers will consist of nomination taken from the floor. All officers cannot be from the same grade level. All officers will be decided by secret ballot.

Duties of Officers
President:
1. Plan an agenda and preside at all meetings of the PTO.
2. Perform other duties as assigned by the PTO.
3. Coordinate the work of officers and committees of the PTO in order that the objectives are made.
4. Set up special committees.

Vice President
1. In the absence of the President, perform their duties.
2. Oversee committee chairs.
3. Perform other duties as needed.

Secretary
Record the proceedings of all meetings as well as disperse the minutes to officers, members, and for the files.
2. Keep an accurate record book of the PTO.
3. Perform other duties as needed.

Treasurer
1. Be custodian of all funds for the PTO.
2. Disburse money with authorization of the majority vote.
3. Keep an accurate account of all monies received and disbursed.
4. Perform other duties as needed.
