Obituary -- Opal Neese 1936-2022

Opal Hillyda Neese was born on March 8th, 1936 in Wright County Iowa to Carl Burras and Bethilda Burras. She went to be with the Lord on March 12th, 2022 at Worth County Care and Rehab Center in Grant City, MO at the age of 86 years and 4 days old.

Opal grew up in rural Wright County, IA. She graduated in 1954 from Kanawha High School.

She was united in marriage on July 3rd, 1955 to Dale Neese in Webster City, IA. They made their home in Stanhope, IA until they moved to Boone, IA in 1966. The family remained in Boone until 1977, when they then relocated to Blockton, IA where they owned and operated The Blockton Cafe for many years.

Opal loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During her retirement, she enjoyed spending time playing cards. The grandkids were always amazed how grandma never lost! Opal was a member of The Red Hat Society and enjoyed spending time with ladies. She also enjoyed reading and word search puzzles.

She attended The United Methodist Church in Clearfield, IA until she moved to Creston where she attended Abundant Life Family Church. She moved to Grant City, MO in 2019, where she enjoyed the Sunday afternoon church services. On November 25, 2020 Mom made the decision to be water baptized to rededicate her life to Jesus.

She was preceded in death by Grandpa Dale, sons Kenneth Eugene and Scott Allen Neese, her parents, brothers Stanley, Irving, Raymond, Carroll, sisters Cora, Arlene and Verna, grandsons Justin Michael Jacobson and Lucas James Ridge and son-in-law Tony Thede.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Debra (Dick) Stewart, Patty Thede, Steve (Ellen) Neese, Kathy (Tom) Eagan, Jackie (Rick) Ridge and Linda (Don) Sams and 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and brother, Roger Burras as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 19th, 2022 at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, MO. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be at the Clearfield City Cemetery in Clearfield, IA.
