A new event center, Rose Hill Acres Event Center, is going up at 105 South Main in Maryville, next to the Maryville Forum and the First Baptist Church. Owner Rosemary Stiens purchased the building in 2019 with construction starting in late 2020. On the north side of the building is Something Borrowed, an event décor and tuxedo rental store. Rose Hill will be on the south side.
On Monday, the Maryville City Council unanimously approved a liquor license for both the bar area and the event space. A 30 foot by 30 foot area on the southeast corner is within 100 feet of the Baptist Church; under city ordinances, the liquor license cannot be granted without council approval. That approval was given Monday.
On January 13th, Stiens, city officials, and Mark Cassady from the State of Missouri Division of Alcohol & Tobacco Control toured the property. Cassady said at the time that the state would be in favor of an exception for that location if approved if the council gave its permission.
