Obituary -- Carl Meek 1934-2022

Carl Marion Meek was born November 4, 1934 to Carl Sr. and Isyl Dean (Thomas) Meek in Worth County Missouri. He left this world to be with his beloved Lord on March 11, 2022 at the age of 87.

Carl or “CM” as many knew him, grew up farming with his parents and attended school in Grant City, graduating in 1954. Carl married Madlyn Lucile Barber of Denver, Missouri at his parent’s house on Oct 17, 1954 and their 68th anniversary would have been this year. Beginning a family after marriage, they raised four boys together.

Carl began married life as a hired hand doing farm and dairy work for various employers while continuing to help out on his parent’s farm and gaining in knowledge in machinery repair. Together with Madlyn, they soon had their own farm to which he devoted much time while also working as a mechanic at the local Ford garage. With his acquired skills, the training he passed on to his sons, and Madlyn’s bookkeeping ability, the family embarked upon owning the local Conoco station in 1977, which ended after a fire destroyed the building.

Carl then went to work at Clarkson Construction in Kansas City as a Teamster truck mechanic and they began living the RV life in order to follow the work and make new friends. Their RV life continued until his retirement in 2001. In retirement, Carl devoted his time to helping kids and grandkids with his talents and tools, along with supporting and attending his church. Carl was on the local ambulance service and a member of the local Fire Department. As an avid client of the Senior Center, he had a many good times playing dominoes and running his small PA system for the musicians at the Center.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents Carl Sr. (1982) and Isyl Dean (2001) and two sons, Terry Alan Meek (2014) and Gary Brent Meek (2016).

Left to remember his life and love are his wife Madlyn of the home; sons, Randy (Kristine) Meek and Kevin (Tyanna) Meek of Grant City, MO; grandchildren Jason, Jamie, Trevor, Trenton, Colton (Shawnee), Mike and Samantha; and siblings Larry Meek (Hermitage, MO) and Betty (Meek) Supinger (Grant City, MO) as well as eleven great grandchildren.
