Obituary -- Doris Cerny 1930-2021

Doris Irene Cerny went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2021 at Glasgow Gardens in Glasgow, Missouri.  Doris Irene Cerny was born on March 27, 1930 to Lawrence Thompson and Gladys (Hobbs) Thompson.  Doris was one of ten children and grew up in Allendale, Missouri.  She graduated from Grant City High School and then went to work at Maryville in a Dime Store and then went to work at Montgomery Wards in Maryville and St. Joseph, Missouri, and Moberly, Missouri.  She retired from Montgomery Wards in 1972.

On September 2, 1965 she married Ted B. Cerny and during this marriage they moved numerous times..  While they were in Osawatomie, Kansas they owned and operated a Pool Hall.  In Grant City they were co-owners of the Hardware Store.

When Doris married Ted she inherited four children, Debbie, Teddy, Jr., Terry, and Tamara.  She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years Teddy B. Cerny, Sr. and her step-daughters Deborah (Jim) Nanneman of Salisbury and Tamara (Robert) Cordes of Glasgow, Missouri, her sisters:  Marie (Paul) Lehman of Wathena, Kansas and Elaine (Clark) Stabe of Grant City, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews as well as step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. 

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, brothers:  Robert, Rex, Gene, Billy Dean, David Clair, and Kenneth and her sister Iona Davidson and her step-son, Teddy B. Cerny, Jr. and her step-daughter, Terry Lynn Broxterman and her granddaughter Jennifer Alberson and great-granddaughter Shi-Anne Alberson.  

Funeral services are pending at this time with Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home of Grant City, Missouri.  Graveside services will be held at a later date.
