Come to Nodaway County, Young Man!

The November 13th, 1869 Nodaway County Democrat wrote the following plug, in part, for Nodaway County in its inaugural issue:

“There is, we think, no section of the West that offers more inducements to emigration at the present time than Nodaway County. Our healthful climate, deep rich soil, and broad expansive prairies, interspersed with numerous groves and running brooks, which only await the husbandman’s touch to make the same groan with a bountiful harvest, invites emigration. It is true that ours is comparatively a new country. The wigwam of the Indian have but recently passed away, and the path and wallow of the buffalo are yet visible on a hundred hills in the country.”
