Dylan McIntyre Leads Bluejays Past Union Star

Dylan McIntyre led Northeast Nodaway with 18 points before going down with an ankle injury, and Northeast Nodaway stole the ball 24 times in a 58-22 running clock win over Union Star Thursday.

The Bluejays overcame six missed free throws to build an 18-6 lead after one. Ben Boswell opened the scoring with an inside shot off a pass from Zach Pride. Union Star got a putback to move ahead 4-2, but Colton Swalley hit a 3-pointer and Dylan McIntyre jumped a pass and converted it into two free throws to make it 7-2. Dylan jumped a pass and scored, and Ben Boswell fed Zach Pride after a steal before the Trojans slashed to the rim to make it 11-6. 

Dylan McIntyre scored off a backdoor pass from Ben Boswell, got loose in transition and got another pass from Boswell, and then Auston Pride converted a third chance putback. Lane Dack was fouled at the buzzer on an off balance putback try and made one out of two to make it 18-6.

Zach Pride hit Colton Swalley on the left baseline to get him on the board, then Lane Dack got loose in transition and got a pass from Ben Boswell. Union Star cut it to 22-8, but Lane Dack got a putback, Dylan McIntyre hit two free throws, and then Colton Swalley got a steal and hit Ben Boswell to make it 28-8. #4 posted up and scored from inside for the Trojans, but Swalley hit a 3-pointer, Dylan McIntyre hit two free throws and later got loose in transition, and then Zach Pride scored off a Colton Swalley steal to make it 37-10 at the break.

#4 started the scoring with a 3-pointer for the Trojans, but Dylan McIntyre scored four straight, hitting two free throws and getting all alone behind the defense for a layup to make it 41-13. It was on the latter play that he fell over and injured his ankle. 

Union Star hung around for the next few minutes, keeping it at 44-17, but then Zach Pride, Brayden Munns, and Colton Swalley all got on the line and hit their free throws and Colton Swalley added a play where he got a tip, Munns got a steal, and threw it to Swalley for the finish. Northeast went 9 for 13 from the line in the period and pulled away to running clock territory at 53-17 after three.

Zach Pride cut inside and got a pass from Lane Dack, and Colton Swalley added a tip and steal to push the Bluejay lead to as much as 57-17 in the fourth quarter.

Dylan McIntyre had 18 points for the Tigers. Colton Swalley had 13, Zach Pride 8, Ben Boswell 6, Lane Dack and Brayden Munns 5 each, and Auston Pride 3. Northeast was 17 for 28 from the line.

Lane Dack had 6 boards for Northeast. Colton Swalley had 5, Zach Pride and Auston Pride had 4 each, and Dylan McIntyre, Ben Boswell, and Brayden Munns had 2 each.

Zach Pride had 5 assists. Colton Swalley had 4, Ben Boswell 3, Lane Dack 2, and Boston Adwell and Brayden Munns 1.

Colton Swalley, Ben Boswell, and Zach Pride all had 3 tips. Dylan McIntyre had 2, and Lane Dack 1.

Zach Pride had 5 steals. Ben Boswell, Dylan McIntyre, and Colton Swalley had 4 each. Lane Dack had 3, Brayden Munns 2, and Auston Pride and Boston Adwell 1.

The girls swarmed and pressed Union Star all night, but couldn’t climb out of a 25-15 second quarter hole against a much improved Trojan squad and fell 47-40. Union Star showed that their win was no accident as they went on to beat Mound City 56-50.
