U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill today released the following statement after the
Senate unanimously passed the Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living
Adjustment (COLA) Act of 2012:
“The folks that have been on the front lines of
freedom’s defense around the globe shouldn’t have to worry about inflation
eating away at their pay and benefits. This measure will help make sure that the
benefits our veterans have earned keep pace with economic reality. This is good
news for Missouri’s veterans and their families.”
This legislation would provide nearly 4 million
veterans and their survivors with a cost-of-living adjustment of 1.7% to ensure
that their benefits keep pace with inflation.
McCaskill is the daughter of a World War II veteran and
member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. To read more about her ongoing
