Courthouse Roof Examined for Defects

The Worth County Courthouse Roof is being examined for defects as the County Commission says that the project is not complete since it is still leaking when the wind blows the right way. The defects are not obvious, meaning that the slate roofing has to be picked up in order to see the defects. What slate materials the county has are not enough to maintain the roof and make repairs. There are as many as 18 squares of additional slate required.

Commissioner Rob Ruckman said that he had talked to the roofer twice during the construction, saying that he had even checked with Worth County Lumber to make sure that they had sheeting on hand. The project was done in 2009 and was delayed a lot by bad weather. As late as May 2009, the roof was still leaking into the closet in the Assessor's office.

The Village of Denver called regarding speed limit signs for the town. Generally, the county does not put up speed limit signs for cities.

The new grader came to the county last Wednesday; the county is in the process of getting the right equipment for the grader. The county received the wrong filters for the new graders and will get new ones.

Commissioner Rob Ruckman received a certificate for five hours of training for participating in the recent emergency exercise in Sheridan.

A tube on Road #157 by the Denver Access had a hole in it. The county did three field tests of prospective employees last week. The county performed road work on the road from Sheridan to Parnell, breaking up old asphalt. The county graveled their end and will redo it since there are still ruts in the area.
