The FCCLA recognized the 36 students who were going to regionals and awarded the ones who were going to state.
Ms. Warner then took the mike and gave a brief motivational talk in which she said the following sayings:
--If you have a bad day in school, you could be a man who never got an education;
--If your car breaks down a long ways from home, think of a paraplegic who never gets to drive;
--If you spot a grey hair, think of a cancer patient who doesn't even have hair;
--If you are the victim of gossip from a particular person, things could be worse -- you could be them.
Bryce Ross and Todd Harding were recognized for being all-conference and Ross was recognized for being all-District for the boys basketball team. After that, 30 students were recognized by teachers for their academic achievements.
The highlight of the event was a string game in which all of the students from grades 7-12 played the String Game. Each class selected 10 students who went onto the floor and lined up; they were supposed to stand back to back and one person was given a task to imitate and then tap their neighbor on the shoulder and demonstrate the task to. The first skit turned out to be a calf roping skit; as Clayton Troutwine kept saying, the sophomores were going to win and his words were justified. But then the sophomores got too carried away on the second skit and the ones from the stands were guessing correctly what the skit was and they were disqualified as the juniors won. It turned out that it was a free throw skit. The third turned out to be a person standing on a boat fishing. The Sophomores believed that they had won the third skit and did some chest bumps in celebration although a winner was never actually declared.
