Baylie Busby Matches School Record in High Jump at 275 Conference Meet

Baylie Busby matched the school record at the high jump Tuesday, May 2nd during the Highway 275 Conference Meet. She jumped 4’10” to take second in the event. She tied Michelle Schulte, who jumped 4’10” back in 2009.

For the girls, East Atchison had 146, Mound City 92, Platte Valley 88, Rock Port 86, DeKalb 57, Nodaway Valley 40, South Holt 31, Stewartsville/Osborn 22, NEN 14, Union Star 7, and North Nodaway 1.

For the boys, Mound City had 146, Nodaway Valley 113, East Atchison 87, Platte Valley 82, Rock Port 51, Stewartsville/Osborn 28, North Nodaway 19.5, DeKalb 18, Union Star 15, South Holt 12.5, and NEN 10.

For the boys, Kenneth Schieber got a season best in the 800 with a time of 2:33.48. Kyler Scadden got the first event victory of the year for the boys, winning the Javelin with a personal best throw of 121’8¾”. 

For the girls, Mylee Wilmes was fourth in the 200 with a personal best time of 29.68. Sasha Deardorff was seventh in the 800 with a time of 3:03.53. Baylie Busby had been working all year on form and landing technique in the High Jump, and it finally paid off at the 275, as she got a personal best of 4’10”. Dalanie Auffert was fifth in the Discus with a season best throw of 82’11¾”. 

The Bluejays placed two in the Javelin. Baylie Busby was seventh with a throw of 82’5” while Dalanie Auffert was eighth with a throw of 75’7¾”. Auffert’s throw was a personal best by over nine feet. Busby’s throw was also a personal best. Auffert was eighth in the Shot Put with a throw of 27 feet. 

Sasha Deardorff got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 12’7¼”. 

North Nodaway

For the boys, Mason Richardson was fourth in the 100 with a time of 12.08, close to a personal best. Owen Martin was seventh in the 400 with a time of 58.96. Gannon Volner beat his previous time in the 1600 by 14 seconds and got a time of 6:21.59. Jeremiah Vinzant also got a personal best with a time of 6:23.93. 

Jordan DeLeon was fifth in the 300 with a time of 52.08. 

The 4x400 relay team of Owen Martin, Landon Parman, Aydan Blackford, and Mason Richardson was third with a time of 4:11.18. The 4x800 team of Aydan Blackford, Jordan DeLeon, Landon Parman, and Owen Martin got a personal best by almost 40 seconds and got a time of 10:32.44, good enough for sixth place. 

Owen Martin was fifth in the High Jump with a height of 5’6”. Jordan DeLeon matched a personal best, also getting a height of 5’6”. Mason Richardson was fourth in the Long Jump with a jump of 17’8½. Aydan Blackford was sixth with a jump of 17’7”. 

For the girls, Andrea Jenkins was sixth in the 3200 with a time of 15:10.43. Casey Wray was seventh with a time of 16:17.62. The 4x800 team of Addalea Barcus, Amy Richards, Casey Wray, and Andrea Jenkins finished fifth with a time of 12:57.17, knocking 12 seconds off their time. 

Addalea Barcus got a personal best in the Long Jump with a jump of 12’10”. Lea Hendricks improved her throw in the discus by 7 feet and got a throw of 72’5”. Casey Wray got a personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 23’11¾”.
