Elwood Beldon Barnes, age 101, Cedar Falls, Iowa formerly from Oxford, Missouri died Monday, July 4, 2022, at Bickford of Cedar Falls Assisted Living Center.
Elwood was born July 14, 1920, in Gentry County, Missouri. He was the son of the late Ira W. and Bessie Marie Barnes.
Elwood was united in marriage to Mabel L. Shipley on October 12, 1946, in Troy, Kansas. They were married for 57 years. Mabel preceded him in death January 31, 2003.
Elwood was a United States Veteran serving in World War II. He was stationed in England with the US Army Air Corp 8th Air Force.
Elwood attended Worth High School, Worth, Missouri and had farmed for over 60 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Worth Baptist Church and the American Legion.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Bessie Barnes, a brother and sister-in-law James and Louise Barnes, and a nephew Fred Barnes.
Survivors include daughter Helen (Steve) Myers, grandchildren Carla (David) Norris,
Mark (Maria) Myers, great grandchildren Anna Norris (special friend Laird Cantrell),
Jack Norris, Alona Myers, niece Jody Novak, great niece Jennee (David) Gregory and a host of other friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the Andrews-Hann Funeral Home, Grant City, Missouri where friends may call after 1 PM on Friday. Burial with Missouri Military Honors will be in the Grant City Cemetery.
