Courthouse News for October 7th, 2020

 The Maryville Department of Public Safety reported that there were two recent incidents in which women were approached by a man they did not know. The first took place on September 20th on North Grand Avenue in Maryville when a suspect followed a female to her apartment, but failed to gain entry. The second took place on September 28th at around 7 pm in the 900 block of North Main in which a suspect approached and physically assaulted a female who was getting into her car. The suspect is described as a white male in his early 30’s, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, with black short hair and no facial hair. 

On September 29th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Randy Howard (34) of Worth on charges of No Valid License and for an out of state warrant.

On September 30th, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against William Enk (54) of Maryville alleging two counts Property Damage and one count Trespass.

On October 1st, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Jeffrey Gross (28) of Maryville alleging two counts Domestic Assault (Felony) and one count Assault. Bond was denied.

The Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department issued the following news release about a drug bust that occurred in Nodaway County:

On October 1, 2020, at about 6:00 AM, Deputies were sent to a residence in the area of 360th and Noble Road for an individual wanted on a warrant.  On arrival Deputies located the male subject who was with another man and woman.  Information was obtained that heroin was being used.  A search warrant was obtained for the residence and Deputies conducted a search.  As a result of the search paraphernalia and a product that showed positive for heroin in a presumptive field test was found. The three individuals were taken into custody and they were brought to the Nodaway County Jail.

Prosecuting Attorney Caleb Phillips charged the following and warrants were obtained:

Logan D Evans, age 29, Guilford, with possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and possession of paraphernalia. 

Kyle D Cline, age 35, Gentry, MO, with possession of a controlled substance.

Sara Nicole Service, age 27, Guilford, with possession of a controlled substance.  

These individuals remain in the Nodaway County Jail.

On October 1st, two Grant City residents reported that their kids’ items had been stolen from their locker at the school.

On October 1st, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Robert Scott (40) of Yucca Valley (CA) alleging Harassment (Felony). Bond was set at $15,000, cash only. Northwest Mo Info reports that the charges arose after the defendant allegedly made harassing calls to his niece and made threats against her life because he believed that she was in possession of his rifle. 

On October 1st, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Lauren Youngs (23) of Albany alleging Peace Disturbance and Resisting Arrest.

On October 2nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against William Quigley (24) of Bethany alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident).

On October 2nd, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Shandon Williams (23) of Chicago alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident).

On October 2nd, Nodaway County Prosecutor Caleb Phillips filed charges against Robert Mowen (44) of St. Joseph alleging Resisting Arrest (Felony), Speeding (26+ mph), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was denied.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
