4,000 People See Fallen WW1 Soldier Buried at Ravenwood in 1921

One of the biggest gatherings ever in Ravenwood saw 4,000 people turn out in September 1921 to see the remains of David Hunterson, son of Dr. & Mrs. D.J. Hunterson, returned to Ravenwood to be buried. Hunterson was killed in action on September 21st, 1918. Over 4,000 attended the service, which was held at the Ravenwood United Methodist Church. Hundreds accompanied the carriage to Oak Lawn Cemetery, where he was buried. The carriage was drawn by six black horses.
