Courthouse News for September 2nd, 2020

 On August 25th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested John Stegmayer (83) of Martinsville in Harrison County on charges of DWI, No Valid License, and Failure to Yield. The charges were in conjunction with the wreck that occurred in Eagleville that day.

On August 25th, Gentry County Prosecutor Jessica Jones filed charges against Jesse Chitwood (28) of King City alleging Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Felony), two counts Armed Criminal Action (Felony), Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Felony), and Domestic Assault. Bond was set at $5,000, cash or corporate surety.

On August 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor David Baird filed charges against Barbara Vinzant (64) of Maryville alleging DWI.

On August 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor David Baird filed charges against Ashley Carver (33) of St. Joseph alleging Possession of Controlled Substance.

On August 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor David Baird filed charges against Ciara Carson (33) of Papillion (NE) alleging DWI.

On August 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor David Baird filed charges against Thomas Affuso (39) of Maryville alleging Property Damage.

On August 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor David Baird filed charges against Sean Watson (25) of Maryville alleging Animal Abandonment.

On August 25th, Nodaway County Prosecutor David Baird filed charges against Lisa Arthur (52) of Maryville alleging Possession of Controlled Substance (Felony). Bond was set at $10,000 surety.

On August 26th, Nodaway County Prosecutor David Baird filed charges against Georgia Espey (48) of Maryville alleging DWI (Felony).

On August 26th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Katelyn Rossell (17) of Bethany alleging Careless & Imprudent Driving (Accident).

On August 26th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Dalton Clemmons (23) of Bethany alleging DWI and Excessive Vision Reducing Material on Windows.

On August 27th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Kenneth Grashorn (55) of Ridgeway alleging  DWI (Two Counts), Leaving the Scene, Property Damage, Careless & Imprudent Driving, and Driving While Revoked. Bond was set at $25,000, cash only.

On August 27th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Sean Court (37) of Ridgeway in Harrison County on a charge of Domestic Assault. He was subsequently charged by Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer.

On August 27th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Christopher Shiflett (31) of Worth on a Clay County Warrant (Non-Support) as well as a new charge of No Valid License.

On August 28th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Jeffrey Meyer (37) of Maryville in Nodaway County on a Felony Worth County Warrant (Parental Kidnapping), a Felony Buchanan County Warrant (Endangering the Welfare of a Child), and Failure to Register. He is being held at the Nodaway County Jail on no bond.

On August 29th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department received a report of reckless driving on P46. Subsequently, they arrested Eric Smith (21) of Kirksville on charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

On August 29th, the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department arrested William Powell (62) of Diagonal on three counts of Failure to Report for a Jail Sentence.

On August 29th, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Russell Hamilton (30) of Bethany alleging Burglary (Felony), Fraudulent Use of Credit Device (Felony), and two counts Stealing (Felony). Northwest Mo Info reports that the charges arose after officers were notified of a burglary in which cash, checks, and a debit card were stolen from a residence while the owner was away. Hamilton was accused of stealing $2,500 in cash, a tax return check for over $2,000, and making purchases with the victim’s debit card totaling over $2,000. Subsequently, a search warrant was issued and a search conducted, in which officers recovered property which they say connected the defendant to the theft.

On August 30th, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Clifford Spriggs (38) of Lancaster (TX) in Harrison County on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Felony), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Speeding, and No Valid License. The Patrol also arrested Anthony Chimney (34) of Tyler (TX) on charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On August 31st, Harrison County Prosecutor Johnathan Meyer filed charges against Jason Yetman (45) of Blythedale alleging Assault (Felony), Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Felony), and Resisting Arrest. Bond was set at $75,000, cash only.

Charges listed are mere allegations. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
