Zane Reed continued to excel for Pattonsburg on offense and Tyson Gibson stepped up and tackled 10 as Pattonsburg beat Schuyler County 68-8 Friday to go to 2-0. Schuyler County will come to Worth County Friday.
The Panthers won despite not having Brett Emig, one of their main receivers and defenders. But Reed completed 17 of his 27 pass attempts for 295 yards and six scored. He ran for 44 more yards. Cameron Jones had 9 catches for 186 yards, while Brody Langfitt stepped up and had 8 catches for 109 yards. Kaden Locker had 6 catches for 22 yards, while Tyson Gibson had 1 catch for 12 yards.
Gibson and the Panther defensive unit held Schuyler County to just 96 yards through the air and 59 on the ground as Pattonsburg was just as impressive on the other side of the ball. 60 of those yards came on one play.
Tyson Gibson had 10 tackles, while Cameron Jones had 8. Two other underclassmen, Gage Iddings and Sam Coin, stepped up and had 5 tackles. Three out of the Panthers’ top four tacklers were freshmen or sophomores. Kade DeJong had 4 tackles, two for loss. Collin Briggs, Cooper Cracraft, and Brandon Hamilton had 3 each. Kaden Locker and Tyler Butler had 2, while Brody Langfitt and James Norton each had 1.
For the second game in a row, Pattonsburg forced five turnovers on defense. Tyson Gibson and Cameron Jones each recovered a fumble. Cameron Jones and Brody Langfitt each had an interception return for a touchdown; Langfitt had 2 picks for the evening.
