Oldest Living Marine Turns 105

On Friday, the country’s oldest living marine. Major Bill White, turned 105, CBS Sacramento 13 reports. He is currently living in Stockton (CA).

White was born in 1915. During then, World War I was still raging, He was in Shanghai (China) before the Japanese invasion in the 1930’s that preceded World War II. He served in World War II, got blown up by a grenade, and survived. He went on to serve 30 years in the US Marine Corps.

The community turned out for White, doing a drive-by salute to him.

Back in February, White was the target of Operation Valentine’s Day, in which more than half a million people sent cards. Among the people who sent cards were President Trump and NASA.
