More Scammers Impersonating Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office

The Ringgold County Sheriff's Office has taken several reports lately where the scammer indicates the person called is in some kind of trouble with the law and/or with Social Security.  The law will not call you and ask for money or your bank information or your social security number.  We don't ask for gift cards purchased and shared with us to pay your way out of trouble.  These kinds of calls are scams.   Please do not give them ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION.

The other frequent scam is a caller posing as the Social Security Administration.  They do not call you to report a problem with your social security number.   Please do not give these callers ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION.

Most especially,  do not give any caller your banking information, your age, your birthdate, or your social security number.  Do not tell them your family members' name(s).

Be aware, when you do not give them information they try to scare out of you with stories of being in trouble, they may yell at you or use profane language to try to intimidate you.  Do not give them your private information.  It is fine to just hang up.   It is best to just hang up.  Feel free to call the sheriff's office to report when you think you have gotten a scam call.
