County Considering Moving Meeting Room Upstairs

The Worth County Commission is considering moving the meeting room upstairs to allow for more social distancing during meetings. The county will pay for it with CARES Act funds, or if that is not allowed, then they will pay for it out of their own pocketbook.

The commission discussed cleaning needs for the Courthouse. The Extension is in the process of cleaning up the basement, and the county is considering setting aside a workday to help with the cleaning of both the basement and upstairs.

Dave Gilland came to talk about a big hole on the bridge west of Brett’s southeast of Grant City. The road has heavy traffic and is a bus and mail route. The commissioners will look at the road in question.

The commission voted to return $18,000 in CDBG funds that was left over from the Cook Bridge project. The commission estimated that it would cost around $50,000 to raise the road and do other needed work.

The commission also discussed redecking the bridge on Road #71. Commissioner Reggie Nonneman said that it was too late in the year to build another bridge, and that the county had no money in the budget. The plan is to save up and do it down the road.
