Interstate 29 was closed from Kansas City International Airport to the Iowa state line Thursday due to the blizzard. Drivers on I-29 were directed to exit the highway at
the next exit where they could find shelter due to the dangerous driving conditions.
Warming stations were opened along the Interstate for stranded motorists in St. Joseph and Rock Port.
Crews are out in full force during conditions like these, but blowing snow makes travel on the Interstates hazardous and
motorists are urged to stay put until the snow and winds stop and roads are
clear.
