The Worth County Commission will enforce the brush ordinance, approving brush removal along a part of Road #163 that commissioners say is in violation of the county brush ordinance approved by voters. Costs will be assessed against the landowner's taxes. The county crews will perform the labor since bids to do the project were over the county's budget. Commissioner Dennis Gabbert said that the statute permits the county to do it themselves as long as covered their costs and were not doing it in order to make a profit. The job will include spraying, stump removal, and cutting of brush overhanging the roadway. The county must repair any damages inflicted on a landowner's property such as fencing. Personnel will document hours and maintain a log of work done on the project.
Road and Bridge Foreman Jim Fletchall reported that the chains were shot on the Mack Truck. The county is planning to bid out surplus items that are no longer needed.
Sheriff Terry Sheddrick reported that there were no problems with the new pickup that the county purchased.
Commissioners continued to study the budget. The mild winter last year helped fuel costs, which were much lower than expected. The county was over budget on tubes as there were many more jobs than expected.
Santa Claus visited the Courthouse prior to visiting Country Corners Friday afternoon.
