Junior High Tiger Boys Win Fourth Meet at Stanberry; Brianna Riley Steps Up for Girls

The Worth County Junior High Boys won their fourth meet in four tries at Stanberry Thursday while the shorthanded Tiger girls, without Brooklyn Smith (broken ankle), finished fourth as Brianna Riley stepped up her game in some of the events Smith excelled in this year.

For the boys, Worth County had 95 points, NEN 80, Platte Valley 65, Princeton 49, Stanberry 47, Plattsburg 42, Rock Port 35, Albany 25, King City 24, Pattonsburg 20, and North Harrison 14.

Jordan Dannar was second in the 100 with a time of 12.43. He was second in the 200 with a time of 25.81. Cole Hardy was fifth with a time of 26.82. Dannar was third in the 400 with a time of 59.36. The Tigers were 2-3 in the 100 Hurdles with Brock Healy second with a time of 16.71 and Mason Hiatt third with a time of 17.93.

The 4x100 was second with a time of 53.73. The 4x200 was second with a time of 1:51.63. The 4x400 was sixth with a time of 4:46.21.

Brock Healy was second in the Pole Vault with a height of 8 feet. Jordan Dannar was second in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.18 meters. Brock Healy was third in the Triple Jump with a jump of 11 meters. The Tigers were 1-2 in the Discus with Owyn Wuillay first with a throw of 38.74 and Brock Healy second with a throw of 37.41. They were over seven meters ahead of their nearest competition.

For the girls, Rock Port had 99.5, Stanberry 97, Princeton 75, Worth County 58, NEN 42, King City 41.5, Albany 40, Plattsburg 24, and Platte Valley 19.

In the events that Brooklyn Smith had done so well in this year, Brianna Riley stepped up and grabbed some badly needed points for Worth County. Riley was third in the 100 with a time of 13.48. She was second in the 200 with a time of 28.89. Kaydence Downing was fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:13.28. Hadley Rush was fourth in the 800 with a time of 3:04.03. Riley won the 100 Hurdles, stepping up her game with a time of 16.94.

The 4x100 team was sixth with a time of 59.59. The 4x200 was fourth with a time of 2:07.26. The 4x400 was sixth with a time of 5:11.91. The Distance Medley was sixth with a time of 5:43.63.

Hadley Rush was fourth in the Pole Vault with a height of 1.98 meters. Brianna Riley was sixth in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.69 meters. Jane Hawk moved up in the Shot Put with a third place throw of 8.96. The Tigers placed two in the Discus as Gabbey Maudlin was third with a throw of 24.39 meters and Jane Hawk was fourth with a throw of 21.90.

The girls went to Brooklyn Smith’s house recently and gave her a get-well card.
