Dallas Giedd has been named the new head football coach for the Platte Valley football cooperative, consisting of Jefferson, South Nodaway, and North Nodaway. He will be assisted by Coach Zach Dyer and Coach Jordan Jenkins, who will move from Gilman City. Giedd will have some big footsteps to fill as he will replace Johnnie Silkett, who turned a dormant franchise into a perennial powerhouse over the last few years.
High School football camp will start July 22nd through 24th at the Hopkins field. They will work with each position group and review fundamentals on defense and offense. There will be a junior high camp at the Hopkins field from 8 am to 10 am. High school camp will resume at Hopkins from July 29th to 31st from 8 am to 10:30 am.
Platte Valley will participate in the Albany team camp from 10 am to 2 pm at the Albany football field.
The first day of high school practice will be at the Barnard football field.
Currently, the Highway 275 and the Grand River West have an agreement to schedule two games with each other. The teams will switch this year, with Platte Valley playing Stanberry and Pattonsburg.
